Robins and Penguins!

Hey Everyone!

Today I finished up the penguins and robins! After much deliberation (Do I chain the tops, do I do plain thread, ribbon?) I decided on a really pretty ribbon which Mum was happy to let me use. I think the finished effect is really cute. They'll be great for Christmas and to hang on the tree as ornaments  but also for cute little house decorations to the penguin and robin lovers out there! (I know you exist, I'm a huge penguin lover myself!)

So what do you think?

I've also finished my little pricing labels, which I think are rather lovely. I'm still eagerly awaiting my business cards to arrive, but in the mean time, I have these
Simple yet eye catching! (Or at least I think so!)

Unfortunately, I have been working so hard on these penguins and robins that I have some what neglected getting the blanket mended. I need to do that, and soonish! :D

And just to finish this blog on a wonderful high, I would like to share with you all a picture I took of the sunset tonight. I couldn't quite capture its entire beauty, but I hope you can get an idea.

Happy Crafting!

Hats, Bad Backs and Blankets!

Today is a day for crafting!

I spent most of yesterday redesigning and updating our sister crafts site Xanthe Crafts (which if you haven't been and had a look at I would recommend!) There is now a lovely slideshow showcasing just some of the products they have available! As well as a full calendar of events where you'll be able to find their stall! Go have a little looksie, it's ok, I can wait! :D

What the new website looks like!

In other news, as you may have guessed from the title of this blog, I have been plagued with an awfully bad back recently, which has prevented me from making much headway with many of my crafting projects.

Today however, I am lucky enough that my back is feeling a LOT better and so today I am dedicating to crafting!

First up we have my Lavender Cables Hat (the link will take you to the Ravelry pattern page) which I'm doing in a ball of turquoise King Cole Galaxy dk.

I am completely in love with this pattern, as it has just enough cables to keep it interesting, but not so many that mean I get stuck. The yarn is pretty yummy too, it's full of wonderful sequin sparkles which just give the hat a little something extra! Perfect for a Christmas gift don't you think? :D

My second project today is going to be fixing a blanket for DBF's Nan! Here dog jumped and danced all over it and accidentally created a rather large hole! The way the blanket is crocheted means that to fix it I need to rip out the entire panel and then start over.

So I've gone from  this....

To ripping back the panel so it's workable again!

And then basically re-crocheting the panel with rescued cotton from the blanket itself, and some new cotton which was bought in the closest colour I could find.

Unfortunately, because some of the reclaimed cotton is sooo old and obviously had been very well crocheted to begin with, there are some slight tension issues at the moment. But I'm hoping that with a hot iron and a bit of luck, I'll be able to steam most of those problems away!

The final thing on my list is to have a start at doing some more bunting shapes. So although it might be getting cold outside, underneath my hat, blanket and bunting pieces, chances are I'm probably going to be lovely and warm!

I'll hopefully have some more bunting pieces to show you next time. But for now, be sure to keep checking out  and liking Asteria Creates facebook page and of course Xanthe Crafts website and facebook!

Happy Crafting!

Vintage Bunting is Finished!

Wow!

So it took a little while, and I completely changed my blog in the mean time, but I have finished my Vintage bunting! It is all ready to be sold!

We have gone from this...

To this!

Unfortunately it wasn't a particularly sunny day outside, so I was unable to use the bushes and fence as a backdrop. However, I think you can see just how bright and wonderful the colours are all the same!

I'm hoping this will really cheer somebody up and make them smile, as it really does just lighten a room and so will be perfect for parties!

My next project? I'm thinking snowflakes! Lots and lots of snowflakes....
